Jelena Todorovich

I'm Jelena, an artist and art educator from the Chicago area. I grew up surrounded by a family of artists and craftsmen that valued the importance of creativity. I knew at a young age that I wanted to work in the field of art, and started that journey. I got my teaching certificate along with my undergrad in Fine Art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I earned my Masters in Teaching and Leadership through St. Xavier, and recently attained my National Board Certification. I have been teaching Elementary and Middle School Art for 15 year in the public schools, and love every minute of it.

Last year I started my practice of Daily Painting. The most valuable lesson I learned in undergrad was that you get out of your art what you put into it, and I'm going full force! The challenge of painting each day is a discipline that helps you discover so much about yourself as an artist. It becomes second nature. Your tools begin to work better, your eyes start to recognize the world around you as paintings, you create challenges for yourself, and you seek out inspiration from other artists. I can't wait to be inspired by these amazing colleagues of mine as this collaboration progresses!
